Charging takes about one and a half minutes. The green power light flashes and the printer makes noise. The printer begins charging the ink delivery system.

Always press and release the ink button to move it.īe careful not to touch the white flat cable inside the printer. Note: Don't hold down the ink button for more than 3 seconds, or the printer will start to clean the print head.Ĭaution: Do not move the print head by hand this may damage your printer.

Press and release the ink button two or more times (until the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position).(The green power light should be on, but not flashing.) Make sure the CD/DVD tray is not inserted in the printer, and the front tray is in the paper (lower) position.

If you have just installed new ink and you still see an ink related error, the cartridge(s) may be incorrectly installed.įollow these steps to make sure the cartridges are correctly installed: They come out looking a bit green.I replaced an ink cartridge and my product shows that the same ink cartridge is expended. The other thing that I don't like is that it does not use a true black for grey scale pictures. It would be much cheaper going to Wal-Mart.įurther, what is VERY annoying is that when it decides that one of the colors has run out, and you still have black ink, it will NOT allow you to print a document with black ink only. If you are planning to use this to print 4圆 photos, using genuine Epson ink, then it will cost y ou far more in ink cartridges. It forces you to change to a new cartridge. Epson make their money from ink, so they put a chip on the ink cartridge that decides when you have run out of ink, whether you have actually run out or not. I usually plug in a continuous ink supply system once the originals run out, but that it messy and the jets then tend to clog if not used regularly. The one I got is a bit temperamental, but the quality is very good. The colors are accurate, images crisp and clear, and if kept out of daylight, will last for many years in an album. I love Epson stylus printers for great photo quality prints.

Very unhappy with Epson and will probably purchase Cannon printers for my PVC printing needs. And to top it off, the ink that came with the printer had leaked making the ink useless. So now I’ve spent $300.00 for a printer I didn’t need. It did the same exact thing my old R280 did. Finally purchased a new R280 and guess what. I tried everything, reinstalled software, replaced ink, new PVC tray but nothing.

The only reason I purchased a new R280 is because I downloaded R280 install software and my old printer flashed all three lights and would not print on the PVC tray. Fortunately I had an old computer with software I had installed for my old R280 which allowed me to print using PVC tray. Recent software updates have made it useless for printing PVC media.
